Swazi Voices sing in the UK

It was with real joy that, in 2010, we welcomed the choir of St. Francis School, Mbabane, to the UK. Bacons College and St. Francis High have been twinned for a number of years and their visit coincided with the Trust’s centenary celebrations.
The choir visited Bacons, meeting students and seeing how the College works, they toured London and performed at three public concerts to help raise money to cover the cost of their trip. The concerts were in the marble room at Hatfield House, at Crichel House in Dorset and at St. Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London.
They also sung at a special concert for staff, students, parents and governors of Bacons College and at the morning assembly, launching their Christmas appeal. Since 2005, the college has dedicated their Christmas appeals to helping Swazis; they have raised over £40,000 and support 30 orphans.
Impromptu performances were given on the London Clipper, The Swaziland High Commission, bus stops, Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market and the Salty Quay pub in Rotherhithe. They sung like angels with obvious joy in their hearts and met with kindness and generosity everywhere they went.
