Over 120 children are usually enrolled on the scheme, each child having an individual sponsor. Started in 2004, many hundreds of children have been sponsored. The first sponsored students have finished school, many completing high school and some going on to become teachers, nurses and agriculturalists. The cost of education increases dramatically at high school with higher school fees, higher uniform costs and longer distances to travel. The cost is usually beyond the means of an individual sponsor and to ensure that the education of promising children can continue, a fund has been established.
